Contrary to popular belief, there are four seasons in El Salvador. Spring and Autumn are barely perceivable, however, so the seasons are generally defined as two: Summer (Dry season) which runs from November through April, and Winter (Rainy season) which starts in May and ends on All Saints Day (The Day of the Dead), November the 2nd.
Temperatures range from the 90´s (for a few weeks in April as the rainy season builds up) to the 60´s during the months of December and January. Cold fronts sweeping down from the north have pushed the thermometer down into the 40´s on rare occasions.
Rainy season in Morazán is a beautiful time to visit; blue skies in the morning and an hour or so of rain in the afternoon. Two or three times during the year a low-pressure system will settle in causing a "temporal" (several days of drizzling rain), but most of the rainy season is no obstacle to getting around.
